After Krakow

I arrived back from Poland yesterday after a very long and stressfull day of travelling. When we were taxing down the runway some Fucking idiot decided to sexually assault the stewardess and take off was abandoned and we were delayed by four hours afer armed police arrested and escorted the man from the Plane. Was a major shit day and a bad end to what was a very enjoyable holiday.
Krakow is a really Catholic city and on every street there is the most beautiful churches. The big church in the square is well worth a visit but remember it is full at all times with people praying so you must be respectful and no pictures are allowed. But definitely the buildings in and around Krakow are the best ive ever seen. Thats all very well but the outskirts of the city is very run down.
On our second day we went to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Definitely a depressing day and not for the feint hearted. School lessons and history documentaries wont prepare you for this. I felt sick to the stomach. The gas chamber and the room full of human hair being the worst part for me. Im glad I got a chance to see it but I wouldnt have the stomach to visit again.
On the third day we visited the Salt mines. It was definitely the highlight of the holiday. Some of the statues are brilliant and the best is the big underground church which was breathtaking. A definite big wow from me.
And generally then we spent the rest of the time either shopping or drinking beer, which there is plenty of both in Krakow. Definitely 4days well spent.

Im going to Poland tomorrow. As I said no a previous post. Leaving home at 4am. I really hate flying so not looking forward to that. Will try and blog when Im over there,if not ill let ye all know de craic when I get back

On the 1st of February Im going to Krakow in Poland. Im going with a bunch of guys from the pub, so therell be plenty of drinking and craic agus ceoil (fun and singing. in Irish)
Also one of the main reasons we are going is to see Auschwitz. We know that there are many of the horrors that happened there still hanging around and Ill post of my experiences there when I get back. But apart from the serious part Krakow wont know what hit it when the "Arklow happy to be an alcoholic society" hits town.
